Subject: consumer complaint

Dear Sir or Madam,
I recently was a guest at your restaurant in Happyville, Wyoming on the evening of January 12, 2012. The service I received was unacceptable. My family was with me that evening including my young 9-month old son, daughter, husband, my mother and my father.. Once we were finally seated after a nearly 1 hour wait,, the waiter brought us our menus and drinks, after another 15 minute wait. While waiting for the food to arrive a serious incident occurred. Another customer was returning from the buffet with a very, very hot bowl of soup. As she walked past our table she tripped on a loose rug and spilled the nearly boiling soup on my 9-month old son. The hot liquid landed right on top of his tender head.
Our waiter did arrive quickly at the sound of my child’s cries. My husband and I quickly left the restaurant and headed for the nearest emergency room. My mother, father and daughter remained at the restaurant. Their food arrived and they were satisfied. The bill came and they were charged for the meals of my daughter, mother , father as well as my husband ‘s and mine. My husband and myself did not see or eat any of the food that evening. My parents argued for half an hour in defense that the bill was incorrect. they should not have been charged for uneaten meals and furthermore a generous discount would have been completely acceptable.
Two days after the incident on January, 14, 2012, I stopped back at Chancy’s Fine Dining to speak to the manager. I discussed my concern with the Manager by the name of Ms. Suzy Jones. She stated the incident was unfortunate however the restaurant is not responsible for individual accidents and that customers are charged per meal ordered. I am not satisfied with this policy.
I want a full reimbursement of my entire family’s meals that evening along with compensation for medical costs associated with my son’s injury. The loose rug cost me a loss of 3 days wages at the amount of $480 plus the medical costs. My insurance company will provide you with these actual amounts once the charges are finalized. I also want the customer service policies of this restaurant and restaurant manger to be re-evaluated with changes made.
A businesses’ reputation is one of its greatest assets or liabilities. Assuming this problem is not resolved many individuals within the Happyville community will be alerted to the dangers of eating at your restaurant. I am confident that you will respond with a solution to this problem. I expect a response within 30 days.
